Our Process

"Making the right video, the first time, on schedule."

Setting Expectations

The first steps of every project are listening, asking questions, drinking coffee, and more listening.  Once we learn a client’s needs, we are able to create realistic proposals which detail the project’s deliverables, timeline, and responsibilities.  These details are important from the start, because we want to make sure that everyone is on the same page.  If a client decides to move forward, then all parties sign a formal agreement, and the client makes a deposit.

Pre-Production (Pre-Pro) involves creating shot lists, schedules, and storyboards; hiring talent; and choosing a soundtrack. This step in the process varies widely from project to project depending on the scope of work. In general, it involves bringing the team together to brainstorm creative ideas, sharing those ideas with the client, getting the client’s input/feedback, and then refining those ideas into a story. Again, it is important that everyone is on the same page. We take the lead but encourage collaboration, and we require that clients approve the pre-production plans before we move forward with filming.

During the days we are filming, we follow our plan and the schedule we created in pre-production. We leave plenty of room for improvisation and capturing spontaneous things, but we have a blueprint to keep us on track. Further, we use some of the best gear on every shoot—whether we are filming from the sky, on the ground, or in the water. More important than the gear, though, is the experience we bring to using it.

Once we wrap filming, we begin editing the video/s right away. We edit the first version of each video according to the plan we created collaboratively during pre-production. Ideally, the first version of the video we deliver to a client will be pretty close to what they want the end product to be. Sometimes that first version is perfect, but more often than not our clients have revisions they would like us to make. We encourage attention to detail and use a video review platform, called Wipster, that makes it simple for clients to leave their feedback and request edits. Through Wipster’s platform, we go back and forth getting feedback and uploading new versions until the video is perfect. Once the client signs off on the video, they can also download it directly through Wipster.

That’s a wrap! After every project, getting honest feedback from our clients is vital. We are eager to learn what went perfectly and what we can improve upon. We strive to always be growing and learning so that we can better serve our clients’ needs. If we decide to work together, please let us buy you a coffee after our project so we can learn how to better serve you and our other clients in the future!
