Charlestowne Hotels & The Shem Creek Inn
We worked directly with Charlestowne Hotels, the Shem Creek Inn’s management and marketing agency, to create video content for the hotel’s website. The goal of our three-day shoot was to create a series of three approximately 30-second videos and five cinemagraphs (short endlessly looping videos). We collaborated with a producer from Charlestowne Hotels to create a shot list and schedule for the shoot that focused on the hotel’s natural surroundings, the abundance of activities just footsteps away, and the hotel’s amenities and location.
The second video focuses in on all the activities that hotel guests have access to, literally within footsteps. There’s boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, and also a vibrant nightlife scene at the various bars and restaurants that line the creek. To keep the budget down for the client, we did not hire any professional talent. Shem Creek has a lot going on all the time, and we were able to work with what we found–and do it legally, by not including any faces in the videos.
The third video touches on some other Shem Creek Inn amenities, such as its pool, but mostly focuses on its biggest selling point: its location. The benefit of doing a three-day shoot is the opportunity to film multiple sunrises and sunsets. The shoot becomes less weather dependent, and we are able to take our time to make sure we get exactly the shots we want.
These short looping videos are perfect for adding some flair to a website or posting on social media. In general, these videos are easy to create in bulk, due to the relatively minimal amount of filming and editing time needed. Thus, with a little planning, we can easily build a few cinemagraphs into every shoot. We created five for this project, and you can see how Charlestowne Hotels integrated them throughout the Shem Creek Inn’s website by clicking here.
