S.J. Hamill Construction
The Hugh K. Leatherman, Sr. Terminal is a brand new port being built in North Charleston, SC. It’s a $762 million dollar project that is expected to be completed in 2020. This case study is the culmination of more than 14 months of work, spanning from June 2016-July 2017. We assisted the project lead, Fierarchy, who brought us on to film and edit all of the video and photo content for this project.
Leatherman Terminal Construction: 14 Month Recap
Every month for 14 months, we would visit the worksite to capture drone video and photographs. We programmed a drone to fly the exact same flight paths (one straight line and one big circle) once every month, to show the site’s progress from the same exact angles. Additionally, we filmed and photographed the various activities going on every month, and collaborated with the client to create a script that accompanied the visuals to round out this 14-month recap video.
Monthly Recap Videos
In addition to the final video recap, we also delivered one 2-4 minute video per month. The goal of these videos was to provide visual progress reports to the South Carolina Port Authority (who awarded SJ Hamill the contract for this project), as well as for some internal and marketing usage. We filmed for one hour each month, and in general, these edited videos were delivered to the client within a few days after filming.
Lastly, each month we took 10 or more high-resolution drone photographs. Again, these were used to provide visual progress reports to the SC Port Authority. They also were utilized in the development of SJ Hamill’s website design. This slider is an example of the photos delivered from the same month as the Monthly video above.
